Properly disinfecting our workspaces is crucial for stopping the spread of germs, bacteria and viruses – maintaining a safe, healthy environment.
There’s a clear distinction between routine cleaning and proper disinfection. Our commercial cleaning experts across the UK know how critical it is to thoroughly disinfect your workspaces and keep health standards consistently high and safe.
🧽What you’ll need
- Microfibre cloth (2 is preferred)
- Glass cleaner (such as GCC glass and stainless-steel cleaner)
- Cotton pad (cotton buds as additions)
- Rubbing alcohol or a 70% alcohol volume alternative
🪣Step 1: Remove Dust and Debris
To make sure the surface is free from dust, debris or other residue that could scratch the surface, gently use a microfibre cloth to wipe away any surface particles.
🪣Step 2: Spot Treatment Removal
Either using rubbing alcohol or 70% alcohol disinfectants will provide the best results. Keep in mind 100% alcohol products won’t be as effective due to the disinfectant evaporating too quickly before it can take effect and break down the bacteria.
Apply a small amount of your disinfectant onto the cotton pad and remove any sticky spots, fingerprints or toothpaste splatters.
Focus on the edges and corners of the mirror, cotton buds may be more effective to remove any build-up of grime as it can reach small, encapsulated spaces.
🪣Step 3: Apply Glass Cleaner
Spray the glass cleaner directly onto the center of the microfibre cloth. Don’t spray directly onto the mirror as this will cause dripping and excess moisture at the edges.
After applying this, use the cloth from top to bottom in a zigzag pattern or a circular motion – this will ensure even coverage and prevent streaks.
🪣Step 4: Streak-Free Finish
Using another microfibre cloth or flip to the dry side of the previous one, buff the mirror to a shine. If streaks are present, continue to use a circular motion until they disappear.
