GCC Facilities Management have achieved another triple ISO certification in 2026. They hold ISO accreditation for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. This represents ISO certification across Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (OHSMS). These underscore GCC’s commitment to rigorous compliance and consistency in its business processes.

GCC gained ISO 9001 accreditation in 2014, ISO 4001 in 2015, ISO 45001 in 2018, and has held all three every year since then.

What does an ISO Certification prove?

ISO Certification (International Organisation for Standardisation) proves that an organisation meets international standards within defined business processes. ISO standards fall into three crucial categories: systems of management and the workforce, product and technical standards and frameworks for governance and risk. Crucially, ISO standards mean that a particular system is evidenced and repeatable by a business. Processes have to be consistent and documented. In this way, an ISO Certification acts as a mark of excellence by an organisation. This gives partners, clients and vendors peace of mind that best practices and especially compliance systems are being diligently adhered to within the ISO-accredited organisation.

Why is ISO 9001 a key asset to businesses?

ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management systems (QMS). QMS means an organisation sets certain standards for the products and services it supplies, and commits to regularly iterating on and improving them. Customer satisfaction is at the heart of the ISO 9001 certification.

GCC’s ISO 9001 systems include a consistent company focus on customer satisfaction, metric tracking, target setting and close supplier management.

What does ISO 14001 accreditation prove?

ISO 14001 manages a company’s environmental impact, with a similar international reach. Sustainability and regulatory requirements are a core part of this ISO. Organisations that have achieved ISO 14001 put a key focus on identifying and then minimising environmental risks, as well as measuring and reporting their outcomes.

ISO 4001 processes GCC follows include tracking their vechicle fleet’s CO₂ output, having a carbon-neutural electrcity supplier at head office and using no aerosols in their own-brand chemicals.

What does ISO 45001 compliance cover?

ISO 45001 maintains occupational health and safety (OH&S) management systems. This means putting health and safety processes front and centre in the workplace. This is especially important in a fast-moving workplace with multiple departments and varied employee activities.

To comply with ISO 45001, GCC implements strict health & safety protocols, focused employee training and continually improves processes and incident reporting to foster a zero-accident culture.

How do Organisations Gain ISO Certification?

Organisations gain ISO accreditation through passing various stages of an audit. The organisation starts by deciding which particular numbered ISO certificate to aim for. This is likely related to management, technology or health & safety. First, an organisation conducts an investigation into the requirements of the ISO, and then compares them with the current practices of the organisation. Where the company finds gaps, they develop processes to correct them. Next, these changes and processes must be fully documented. The company then conducts an internal audit to investigate if the changed processes are sufficient.

This audit process may involve checking documentation, testing processes, interviewing staff and other stress tests on the system. Secondly, if the organisation passes their internal audit, the next step is a full external audit, undertaken by an independent certification body. This external audit is rigorous, and upon its conclusion, a list of minor and major issues will be drawn up. Minors require fixes, and any major issues result in a fail.

Finally, upon successful completion of the external audit, an organisation will be awarded an ISO Certification in the category they were examined for.
